A Note to Google Users on Net Neutrality:

The Internet as we know it is facing a serious threat. There’s a debate heating up in Washington, DC on something called “net neutrality” – and it’s a debate that’s so important Google is asking you to get involved. We’re asking you to take action to protect Internet freedom.

In the next few days, the House of Representatives is going to vote on a bill that would fundamentally alter the Internet. That bill, and one that may come up for a key vote in the Senate in the next few weeks, would give the big phone and cable companies the power to pick and choose what you will be able to see and do on the Internet.

Today the Internet is an information highway where anybody – no matter how large or small, how traditional or unconventional – has equal access. But the phone and cable monopolies, who control almost all Internet access, want the power to choose who gets access to high-speed lanes and whose content gets seen first and fastest. They want to build a two-tiered system and block the on-ramps for those who can’t pay.

Creativity, innovation and a free and open marketplace are all at stake in this fight. Please call your representative (202-224-3121) and let your voice be heard.

Thanks for your time, your concern and your support.

Got $5-$10 to spare? Care to donate to the American Cancer Society?

Whether it’s a friend, family member, or neighbor down the street, we all know someone who has been touched by cancer. Many of us are concerned about this disease and want to do something to make a difference. That’s why I’ve decided to take part in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life® . It’s an event that brings together the whole community and helps raise funds for the fight against this disease. I know you care about cancer, too, and I’d love for you to join me as part of my Relay team.

At the event, we’ll camp out overnight, walk around the track, and meet lots of new people. There is an incredible tribute to cancer survivors and caregivers that starts off the night and a moving ceremony honoring those who have fought the disease. I can truly say Relay is unlike anything else you’ll ever do. It’s a night full of fun, hope, and remembrance.

You can get more information about Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society by clicking the link below.

Won’t you join me in this fight?

Alright, is there anyone out there that’s a Windows user from back in the day? I’m talking Windows 3.1 (or longer), to Vista (including Server, ISA, Exchange, etc).

I am. I loved PC’s because of MS at one point in time. As a kid born in 1980, Apples were cool, but, MS was my first true experience with the GUI.

Are you as sick and tired of Microsoft as I am? Well, Microsoft is at it again with Windows 7.

Now, I don’t have any reviews nor do I have anything really to report on the new Operating System. Why? Well, frankly because I really just don’t care to know.

I used to LOVE Microsoft! Now, I can barely stand them.

See, I bought a new Dell Desktop Dimension with Vista Home running last summer. My desktop and laptop are VITAL tools I use everyday to run my business. I knew all about the mixed reviews of how much Microsoft dropped the ball with Vista, but, I still believed in Windows.

Well, Vista turned out to be as horrible as Millennium Edition (Windows ME)! I barely use my desktop BECAUSE OF VISTA!

I just used my Thinkpad running Win XP Pro.

I RAN this laptop INTO THE GROUND!

Keys are missing, it won’t hold a charge, hard drive is failing…

..I just kept on using it. As long as it wasn’t Vista, it was good.

………………………….until it died two weeks ago.
And I had to buy another latop. :(
I started checking out Apple. (Thanks to Dan and the people at the apple store in Christiana Mall!)

Started to love MORE about the Macbook Pro, Time Capsule, IPhone and IMac.

Looked at the prices……(DAMN!)

and had to settle for a Dell Vostro 1000 running Windows XP HOME!!!

It was $350, so, yeah, nice price for a small business owner.

BUT! I am SAVING up for ALL THOSE ITEMS!

Meanwhile, I will do those 1-hour-1-day-a-week-for-$100-per-yer training programs at the Apple Store to learn different about Apple products.

I’ve really had enough of Microsoft. Apple products are superior in terms of usability, stability, architecture & design.

So, yeah, unless Microsoft works some type of magic, I am done with Windows.

Enough bitching, time to go back to work.

Not going to go into the details, but, next year, clear out your calendar and head to Scranton, PA for the St. Patty’s Day weekend parade!

I’m talking Mardi Gras type of event!

Who knew?

Seriously, look it up: St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Scranton PA

For Undergraduate Representative for the School of Technology.

Hello All:

Demetrius Pinder here (SoFT, C/O 2004). How are you! I have a lot of great things going on, mainly, my education (three classes away from my M.B.A.) and my business (www.RiDEGroupLLC.com check it in two weeks to see the new direction).

With that being said, I have decided to run for Undergraduate Rep for the School of Technology. I have been honored to be called back as an Alumni Emerging Leader and will be featured in JWU Magazine. How am I doing this stuff? By doing the same stuff you are!

So, I vow this to you, my success if your success. I will never forget ANY of you. Some of us never talk and that’s fine; we share a common bond and I hold it in high regard.

So, what do you say, can I have your vote? I’m the only one running (HAHAHAHA!) but, there is strength in numbers.

If not, no hard feelings. I still have a lot of opportunities for those interested (if you’re interested).

Go here to vote, you must sign up for access to the alumni site (Alumni.Jwu.Edu):

Vote Here once you sign up:

If you feel like, please pass this along.

Thanks,

Allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m a young black man, trying to make my path in this world. I’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt, tattoo, 8 years of Army Reserve Training, 4 year degree (Johnson & Wales University School of Technology), 3 classes away from my M.B.A, know all about poverty, drugs, sex and alcohol, own a home, a full-time self employed business, seen many ups and downs in my life that as my close friend and business partner Quincey says: “I quit recess because of games”.

But he really didn’t quit recess, he just played the games differently. Hi, my name is Demetrius Pinder and I’m 27 and addicted to life. Hey, it’s free!

I read this great blog called www.Trizle.com almost daily. They have some of the most awesome blog postings on Web 2.0, productivity, etc. in which the comments are some of the most real comments I have ever read. So, I took it upon myself to copy and paste my verbose, yet real second comment and put it on my blog. Hey, I have that right!

So, read my comment below if you like. I’m taking my ass back to bed.

Thanks!

——————-

(please note that yes, there are typos in the original comment. I went to bed at 2am, working my ass off only to wake up and see my girlfriend leave for work. You do what you gotta do in order to be happy. If you’re here to nit pick, trust me, your comment won’t be approved.)

I love how easy the Launch Soon script is; I will be using that service in the future. I also noticed the check out process involves Paypal!

I’m going to follow this method. Deploy efficiently, quickly and as cheaply as possible. Luckily for us, we are web/graphic/print designers with PC/Mac/Server/Mobile skills.

I’m telling you! We’re the new work force. We understand IT/Marketing/HR/MGMT and Sociology. If we don’t know, the guy next door does. It just so happens that the guy next door happens to be a guy/girl named http://www.scorpiono.com/ (or www.mylol.net) who I met on a blog named www.Trizle.com and he/she has mad crazy design skills.

A little knowledge goes a long way. Things like the Patent system or rules of Traditional commerce are being questioned everyday! Look at the controversy of www.juicycampus.com! How can you NOT visit that site after all the press?

Please everyone, get me off this damn soap box so I get back to work! PLEASE!!! I am DEAD honest and REAL, watch this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr3qPRAAnOg), ok? Watch this video and then go rent a good video on the American Revolution. The special on the Military Channel is a good one to watch.

Sit back with your beau, watch these items, Read this blog, Read www.returncustomer.com and www.wakeuplater.com and whatever else you love and CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Ok, I’m off. But, this isn’t an attempt to sale myself (I’m not a whore…my girl would say otherwise…but, I’m trying to SHOW her otherwise), rather, I will take ANY opportunity to market myself. Check out www.Pathwaytomysoul.com. Read my story, get inspired and let me know about it! Because damn it, I can’t and WON’T do it all alone!

——————————————————————–

Dear Google:

I LOVE YOU! My name is Demetrius Pinder and I am a small business owner that lives in Delaware. I provide Web/Computer Services to a multitude of people. I use Google Apps in my daily life to run my business and now, I am having my clients use Google apps! As a 27 year old IT pro, I live and breathe technology, but, I am not a master of any one particular task. I find that these days, many people in IT are the same way. We are a group of multi-tasking FOOLS! Jack of ALL trades, masters of none…and I couldn’t be happier! Delegation with respect is the key to happiness.

I am a member of the U.S. Army Reserves (now Honorably Discharged after serving my 8 year contract), a full-time small business owner, home owner, soon to be M.B.A and a man that has fire running through his veins! I guess you can say I am a product of Johnson & Wales University School of Technology!

With that being said, I use the Global economy to do things for small business owners that they cannot do for themselves! Better yet, I am able to save them time and money by using resources in America, China and Brazil! How do I keep my 5 companies growing while keeping my bottom line in check? BY USING GOOGLE!

So, as a full-time SBO (small business owner), I have a few suggestions:

    • Put a text editor on this page! I need some control to modify my text! Like the Rich Text Editor in Gmail! Put that everywhere!
    • I need to become a reseller of Google Apps for SBO’s. I know that Google has a plethora of services available to SBO’s, but, what I’m not sure you understand is that there are MANY people who do not understand technology! So, I help MANY people (commercial AND residential customers) with their technology needs. See, I do more than Geek Squad or Firedog. With technology like Google Services, the small guy CAN and WILL win!
    • Because of tools like Google, Firefox, Apple, Palm, etc…I am QUICKLY switching from Microsoft and becoming a fan of the FREE THINKERS. Please continue pushing Apple and Firefox (and please, for the love of God, support Palm more!)
    • I text message a lot! I know I am not alone in saying that this horrible 160 character limit is down right frustrating! Can someone tell anyone about that?
    • When the Google did it’s IPO, I was a believer! But, I was still in college and dead broke. I wanted to take out a loan and put it all into Google stock, but, I listened to a “finance professional” when I should have followed my heart! Well, now, like Steve Jobs, I follow my heart and will continue to until I die. With that being said….can you throw the little guys a bone!? I mean, good Lord! Your stock is trading at 419.87 when I last checked! Technology can pull us out of this slump again like the Bubble did in the 90’s.

People understand technology more these days and they are hungry. I know because I am out here feeding that hunger. I may be small, but I am MIGHTY!

So, in closing, Google, you ROCK. I freakin’ love you guys! I am a complete fan of yours and I believe in you. Keep doing your thing!

I really hope someone out there reads and take notice of my email. This is in a way my introduction of the web professionals to you, Google. We are a tight bunch with WILD dreams.

The 80’s are back again baby!

      Sincerely,

      Demetrius Pinder

      www.ridegroupllc.com

The 80’s are back!

So, if you’re like me, you were born in the 1980’s or, you were a teen in the 80’s! If that’s the case, this blog posting is for you.

The 80’s are back and you know what’s funny, NO ONE is talking about it!

So, let me show you how the 80’s are coming back:

  • Take a walk around the mall and look at what the kids are wearing.
  • Look at all the movies that are coming out or that has already been released! Transformers, Speed Racer, Alvin and the Chipmunks, etc
  • APPLE IS KILLING IT!
    • Mac Book Air
    • IPhone improvments
    • …the original Personal PC makers are at it again (and I’m a Windows user!)
  • Hip Hop is ALL ABOUT break dancing and beats again!

So, yeah, the 80’s are coming back. I for one am excited for the future. The 80’s and the 90’s were a time of prosperity (well, mid 80’s to late 90’s).

What do you think? Am I way off here?

2008.

It’s an election year. For the first time, America may have a woman or a minority in office. As a 27 year old black man, I am glad to be alive during this time of history.

America has green issues. The environment (The Truth Is Inconvenient), the economy (C.R.E.A.M.), and immigration (Green cards).

I for one hope and wish that we as young people get out and vote and stand up for ourselves. As cliched as it sounds, we are the future.

Get your ass registered to vote.
